Crying

Dreaming about crying for somebody who has died

Is it normal to wake up crying about someone who died?

Yes, entirely, and this is the version most likely to be read by somebody in real distress, so it should be plain.

Grief dreams are common, they are a normal part of bereavement, and a large proportion of people who have them describe them afterwards as helpful rather than harmful. Crying in them is not a setback and it is not a sign that grieving is going wrong.

Dreamers often report the dream returning them to the person exactly as they were, and the crying beginning inside the dream at the moment of realising. Waking with the tears already there is common.

The dead-relative entry covers the wider ground gently and is the better page if what you want is the whole of it rather than this one part.

Where this reads well

Reported as painful and valuable at the same time, and dreamers rarely wish they had not had them.

Where it is harder

They arrive without warning, sometimes years on, and can take a day back.

Worth asking yourself

How did I feel about having had it, once the day had gone on? Was it painful, valuable, or both?

Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
