Dreaming about wearing a coat that is not yours
What does it mean to dream you have somebody else's coat on?
The ownership is known without evidence, as it is throughout the clothing material.
What a coat adds is that it is the garment most often taken by mistake in waking life, so a dreamer with real experience of it has something to build from.
The reports divide by whose it is. A stranger's produces mild social discomfort; somebody known produces something warmer, and where the person has died dreamers describe it as being close to them, which belongs with the bereavement material.
Very few report trying to return it, which is the compliance finding: the obvious action does not occur.
