Dreaming about a clock you cannot read
What does it mean to dream you cannot read a clock?
One of the most reliable features of dreaming and one of the most useful. The hands will not resolve, the numbers move, the display changes between glances, or the face is legible and meaningless.
The explanation is the same as for unreadable text generally: dreams generate detail on demand, and anything requiring sustained precision under scrutiny tends to fail. A clock is text with an extra demand on it, which is why it fails so reliably.
This makes clocks one of the two best reality checks there are, alongside written text. Looking away and back is what the lucid section trains, and a clock is the most common object that will fail the test.

Directly actionable. Dreamers learning to recognise dreams report clocks and text as the two most dependable signs.
Where it is harder
Where the dreamer is late, the unreadable clock compounds the being-late material and is genuinely frustrating.
