Dreaming about a cat that is somehow wrong
What does it mean to dream about a cat that is not quite right?
Too large, too many limbs, a face that is slightly human, or an animal the dreamer knows is a cat while it plainly is not. Reported across species but noticeably often with cats.
This is ordinary dream construction rather than anything special. Dreams identify things by knowledge rather than by appearance: the dreamer knows what it is, and the dream feels no obligation to make it look that way. The same mechanism produces the composite-person reports and the houses with the wrong number of rooms.
Knowing that removes most of the unease, which is worth saying, because these are frequently the reports people find hardest to describe and most want an exotic explanation for.
Where this reads well
Once the mechanism is understood, dreamers often reinterpret these as interesting rather than disturbing.
Where it is harder
Where the wrongness is a human face, reports sit closer to the Bestiary material and the unease is stronger.
Worth asking yourself
How did I know it was a cat? What exactly was wrong with it? Was I frightened or only puzzled?
Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
