What does it mean to dream something will not fit together?

The pieces are the wrong shape, or will not align, or change while being handled. Dreamers describe trying repeatedly.
Two mechanisms are running. Fine manipulation fails because the body is switched off, exactly as it does with pens, locks and buttons. And the pieces themselves are unstable, because small detailed objects are regenerated each time attention returns to them.
So it fails twice over, which is why this is one of the more comprehensively frustrating dreams reported.

Small and repetitive, and dreamers report waking tired rather than distressed.
