Dreaming about eating bread and tasting nothing
Why does food have no taste in dreams?
This is a general feature of dream content rather than a fact about bread, and it is worth knowing before reading anything into it.
Dreams are strongly visual, moderately auditory and weakly gustatory. Taste is among the least generated senses, and the salt entry is the closest thing to an exception in this database.
Bread carries a great deal of inherited meaning across several traditions, which makes it one of the images most likely to be over-read. The apple entry describes the same problem: an image arriving with an interpretation pre-installed.
What the reports actually contain is handling, sharing and preparing, and none of it involves the mouth.
Where this reads well
A clean limit on what this record can be about, and it defuses a heavily symbolised image.
Where it is harder
None.
Worth asking yourself
Could I taste it? Was I eating at all? What meaning did I bring to it?
Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
