Dreaming somebody is standing in your bedroom
What does it mean to dream a figure is in your room?
Read the sleep paralysis material before you read anything into this. The reports are consistent to the point of being one description.
Awake, or believing so. Unable to move. Certain that somebody is present. Pressure on the chest. A figure by the bed or in the doorway, frequently seen only at the edge of vision.
That combination is the single most consistently reported experience in this database, across countries and across centuries, and it happens to people who have never heard of it and assume they are the only one.
Nothing is in the room. The paralysis lifts on its own, usually within a minute or two, and knowing that in advance is most of what makes it survivable. The old-hag entry covers the figure itself and why it looks so similar to so many people.
Where this reads well
The single most useful explanation on this site for the people who need it, and dreamers consistently report the terror dropping once it has a name.
Where it is harder
Unexplained it is genuinely one of the worst experiences people report, and many carry it for years without mentioning it.
Worth asking yourself
Could I move? Was there pressure on my chest? Where in the room was the figure?
Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
