Dreaming about a plane crashing

What does it mean to dream about a plane crash?

The reported versions cluster on descent: turbulence, an engine failing, a landing that will not come, and the crash itself.

Dreamers frequently report the crash as observed rather than experienced, and many describe watching from outside the aircraft entirely. That viewpoint shift is the same one the watching-yourself entry describes, and it attaches to catastrophes with unusual reliability.

It is not a premonition and there is no mechanism by which it could be. Dreams of disaster are common, aviation is a vivid and well-stocked source of imagery, and the dreams that never precede anything are not counted.

Where somebody is genuinely afraid of flying, these track that fear and rise before a real trip, which dreamers can normally confirm themselves.

Where this reads well

Dreamers who notice they were watching rather than sitting in it usually find the whole thing easier to dismiss.

Where it is harder

Before an actual flight these are unwelcome, and a fair number of people report them adding to an existing fear.

Worth asking yourself

Was I inside it or watching? Am I flying soon? How did it end?

Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
