Wedding in Islamic dream interpretation
Marriage in the manuals is rarely read as marriage. It is read as a joining, and often as an unwelcome one.
What this page is
What follows describes readings recorded in this tradition, with the tradition's own qualifications attached. It is not a claim that a dream about any of these things means anything, and it is not religious guidance.
The classical readings are counterintuitive to a modern eye. A wedding is frequently associated with worry, with an obligation being taken on, or in some compilations with illness or death, depending on the circumstances and on whether the dreamer is already married.
The underlying logic is that a marriage is a binding: something is being joined to something else and cannot easily be undone. Read that way, the association with burden rather than celebration is coherent.
This is one of the clearest demonstrations that a symbol tradition is a language rather than a discovery. The same image reads as joy in one tradition and as constraint in another, and both are internally consistent.
What is actually recorded about dreaming of wedding
Wedding dreams are dominated by things going wrong: the wrong dress, the wrong person, nobody arriving. The commitment is rarely the anxiety; the ceremony is.
