Flood, sea, river and washing all sit in the same vocabulary. The waters of the deep are the pre-creation chaos in Genesis; the same element cleanses in ritual washing and in baptism. The tradition holds both without resolving the tension.
The dream-adjacent material is thin and worth naming as thin. Pharaoh's cattle come up out of the Nile, and the river is the setting rather than the symbol: Joseph reads the cattle and the corn, not the water.
Later Christian dream literature made more of water than the texts do, and the modern "biblical meaning of water in dreams" comes mostly from that later devotional layer rather than from scripture.
