sleep paralysis
The usual weight, and then a very clear sense of somebody else in the room taking it off my chest, the way you would lift a bag off someone. I could move straight afterwards. I do not think anything was actually there. I would still like to know why my brain built that.

There is a reasonable amount of work on the "sensed presence" during paralysis. It turns up across cultures that have completely different explanations attached to it, which is the genuinely interesting part.
Before you respond
- No diagnosing. Not their mental health, not their relationship, not their body.
- No certainty. "This might connect to…" rather than "this means…"
- Nothing that predicts a death, an illness or a disaster. Ever.
- No encouraging paranoia about someone in the dreamer's life.
- Say which tradition you are drawing on, if you are drawing on one.
- Content warnings on anything graphic.
- Personal belief is welcome. Personal belief presented as established fact is not.
Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
